Obvious But Significant Tip
In "NFL" (Gridiron) like no other high scoring team sport certain scores are much more likely to occur than others. Since "NFL" football is scored in increments of 3, 7, 6, 8 and 2 points in order of regularity, certain point spreads are much more important than others.
The ten most important point spreads are: 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, and 17 not in order. More than 65% of all "NFL" football games end in these ten margins of victory. So to the punter a move off one of those numbers will be definitive regarding a bet. Betting on a favorite at minus 3 represents so much more value than taking minus 3 and a half and often should determine a "bet" or "no bet". A team getting 9 and a half points start is not much better advantaged than getting only 7 and a half start. If the outsider fails to cover 7 and a half points there not likely to cover 9 and a half either, since games rarely finish with a margin of victory of exactly 8 or 9 points.
Only 13 numbers make up more than 66% of all final scores in "NFL" football: 7, 10, 13, 14, 16, 17, 20, 21, 23, 24, 27, 28, 31. So the likelyhood to witness a final score of 26 - 18, just won't happen in your life time.
So when doing your personal markets and ratings in "NFL" football keep it realistic by adjusting your predictions to fall with these key numbers.
