World Cup bid 'running on time'
17/09/09 02:48 PM

Football Federation Australia (FFA) says it remains on track to meet FIFA's official requirements to bid for the 2018 and 2022 soccer World Cups.

The sport's governing body has told all bidding nations to submit plans for at least 12 host stadiums by mid-December.

A Fairfax newspaper report today suggests the FFA is struggling to secure funding for venues that meet FIFA's stringent requirements.

But the FFA says it has been working closely with both Federal and state governments to ensure arrangements are made in time, and says no expenditure is needed until the bid is successful.
